Corporate Custom Notebook FAQ
Everything you need to know about MOQ, lead times, materials, sampling, and the quote process — answered in one place to help you complete your procurement evaluation quickly.
Section 1 — MOQ & Lead Times for Custom Notebooks
Q1: What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for custom corporate notebooks?
The recommended MOQ depends on how deeply you customize the product:
- Standard customization (cover logo only): From 300 units — suitable for foil stamping or debossing a logo onto PUNDY's standard cover. Cover material upgrade available from 500 units.
- Full customization (custom size, bespoke inner pages, or tooling): 1,000 units or more for the most cost-effective unit price.
Q2: If we need corporate gifts before year-end, how long does production take?
Standard lead time after design approval (or sample sign-off) is 45–55 business days. The process breaks down into three stages:
- Stage 1 — Requirements & quotation: 1–3 business days
- Stage 2 — Sampling & proofing: 7–10 business days
- Stage 3 — Mass production, QC & packaging: 45–55 business days (subject to shipping schedule; sea freight is standard)
Q3: What if we need a large quantity (5,000+ units) or have an urgent order?
Large orders qualify for volume pricing. For urgent requests, lead time flexibility depends on the style and finishing methods involved. Standard sizes with standard finishing offer the most timeline flexibility.
Q4: Does PUNDY accept overseas orders? How are shipping and duties handled?
Yes — we accept international orders and offer two flexible pricing options:
- FOB Taiwan: Price covers production costs only. Best for buyers who have their own freight forwarder.
- DAP (Delivered at Place): Price covers production plus international freight, excluding import duties, taxes, and official government charges at destination.
Section 2 — Materials & Custom Specifications for Notebook Design
Q5: Beyond standard synthetic leather, what premium cover materials do you recommend?
For high-end corporate gifting, we particularly recommend:
- For a luxury feel: Imported genuine leather or color-shifting PU with gradient effects. Italian full-grain leather is available on request.
- For ESG credentials: FSC-certified paper materials, recycled leather, or recycled fabric covers.
- Specialty options: Natural bamboo veneer, washed kraft paper, and other distinctive materials.
Q6: How is PUNDY's pull-out loose-leaf notebook different from a standard ring binder?
It looks and feels like a premium hardcover notebook, yet inner pages can be freely swapped in and out without the bulk of a traditional binder. PUNDY's design uses a concealed snap-latch mechanism — a light pull releases individual pages instantly.
Q7: What cover finishing options are available, and what file format do you need?
The most popular techniques are debossing / hot-stamp embossing and foil stamping (gold, silver, or color foil). We require AI (Adobe Illustrator), EPS, or an editable vector PDF file.
Q8: What is the difference between gang-run printing and dedicated plate printing for notebook inner pages?
PUNDY offers two printing methods for custom inner pages, advertising inserts, and printed materials. The right choice depends on your quantity, color accuracy requirements, and budget.
Gang-run printing (合版印刷) combines multiple clients' artwork onto a single printing plate. This significantly reduces plate fees and paper costs, making it ideal for standard promotional inserts, flyers, or inner pages where exact color matching is not critical. However, because multiple jobs share the same plate, individual color adjustments are not possible — color variance of up to 10% is normal.
Dedicated plate printing (獨立版印刷) uses a separate plate exclusively for your job. This allows precise color calibration, wider paper selection, and higher overall print quality. It is recommended for large-volume orders, brand-sensitive materials, or any project where color accuracy is essential (e.g., corporate brand colors, product photography, or Pantone-matched designs).
| Feature | Gang-Run Printing | Dedicated Plate Printing |
|---|---|---|
| Unit cost | Lower | Higher |
| Color accuracy | ±10% variance (not adjustable) | Precise (adjustable on press) |
| Best for quantity | Small runs | Large runs (1,000+ pcs) |
| Print quality | Standard | Premium |
| Paper options | Limited to common stocks | Wide range including specialty papers |
| Lead time | Faster | Longer |
| Best use case | Promotional inserts, flyers, standard inner pages | Brand-critical materials, custom inner pages, advertising inserts requiring exact color |
Q9: Which printing method should I choose for advertising inserts in my custom notebooks?
For advertising inserts, branded company pages, or promotional pages bound into notebooks:
- If color accuracy matters (e.g., your company logo uses specific Pantone colors, or the insert includes product photography): choose dedicated plate printing. The additional cost is worth it for brand consistency.
- If the insert is primarily text-based or uses simple graphics (e.g., a calendar page, contact directory, or general information page): gang-run printing is usually sufficient and significantly more cost-effective.
- Mixed approach: For orders of 500+ notebooks, we often recommend printing the advertising insert pages on a dedicated plate while using gang-run for standard diary/planner pages. This balances quality and budget.
Contact us with your insert design and we will recommend the most cost-effective printing configuration.
Q10: Can inner pages be customized too?
Yes. Custom inner pages are available with a minimum order of 1,000 units. Common configurations include a company brand introduction page, annual calendars, and logo-printed page borders or headers.
Section 3 — Quotation, Samples & Ordering Process for Corporate Gifts
Q11: Can we see a sample or request a custom proof before committing to a full production run?
- Standard stock sample (free): Request an existing sample to evaluate materials and workmanship — you only pay the courier fee.
- Custom proof sample (paid): Available for orders of 500 units or more. The proofing fee is fully credited toward your final invoice once you confirm production.
Q12: What does PUNDY's quotation include? Are there hidden costs mid-production?
Our quotations are fully transparent. Every quote clearly itemizes the unit price, tooling / plate fee, special finishing & packaging fees, and domestic delivery. No unannounced charges will be added during production.
Q13: This is our first time ordering. What information should we provide to get started?
Please share: Dimensions/size, Binding method, Estimated order volume, and Required delivery date. If you have logo files or design references, include those as well.
Q14: What happens if the delivered goods have a quality issue?
If you receive items with non-user-caused defects, please notify us with photos within 7 business days. We will propose a resolution within 48 hours (replacement stock, product exchange, or credit adjustment).
