The sourcing brief

Define the product before comparing quotations.

A useful enquiry is more than a logo and quantity. These four decisions establish how the tape should look, function and fit into the wider range.

01

Commercial role

Decide whether the tape is a retail SKU, a branded stationery accessory, a gift-set component or a decorative packaging detail.

02

Visual system

Prepare the logo, pattern, colour references and intended repeat. Consider how the design reads both on the roll and when unspooled.

03

Roll format

Confirm the required tape width, roll length and quantity per design. Final available specifications are confirmed for each project.

04

Presentation

Clarify whether rolls will be supplied individually, grouped as a set or integrated with notebooks, planners or gift packaging.

Customisation map

Build one coherent specification.

Each choice affects the others. A wider graphic may need a different repeat; a multi-roll set may require a different packaging structure; and adhesive performance should be reviewed against the intended surface.

  • Printed artwork, repeat direction and colour reference
  • Tape width and roll length
  • Paper appearance and tactile direction
  • Adhesive and intended application surface
  • Individual roll or coordinated set
  • Core, label and outer packaging requirements

Artwork and repeat

Design for the roll—and for the unrolled tape.

A pattern that works on screen may not read the same way at tape scale. Review the repeat length, visual rhythm and critical details before production files are approved.

DecisionWhat to prepareWhat to review
Repeat patternA complete repeat tile with clear start and end pointsVisible joins, spacing and the rhythm of motifs across the roll
Brand colourColour references and an approved visual standardHow colour appears on the selected paper rather than on a backlit screen
Fine detailVector artwork where practical and outlined typographyMinimum line weight, legibility and reduction at final size
OrientationDirection of use and preferred roll-unwinding orientationWhether logos, words or directional motifs remain correctly aligned
Multiple designsA labelled file set and quantity by designConsistency across the collection and MOQ allocation per design

Final print method, dimensions, colour control and tolerance are confirmed against the approved project specification and artwork.

Buyer questions

Custom washi tape FAQ

What is the standard MOQ for custom washi tape?

MOQ starts at 35 rolls per design, with improved per-roll pricing at 55 and 105 rolls per design. Four standard widths are available — 15, 25, 30 and 40 mm on 10 m rolls, printed in CMYK. If your project includes several designs, share the required quantity for each design.

Can PUNDY manufacture tape using our own artwork?

Yes. Provide your artwork as an Adobe Illustrator (.ai) file — we supply a design template to work with — along with repeat direction, colour references and intended dimensions. File readiness and production feasibility are reviewed according to the project specification.

Can several washi tape designs form one collection?

Yes. A coordinated collection can be planned around a shared palette, motif system or packaging concept. MOQ applies per design, so list each design and quantity in the enquiry.

Can washi tape be included with notebooks or gift sets?

Washi tape can be considered as part of a broader stationery or gift-set project. Share the other products, presentation concept and packing requirements so the complete set can be reviewed together.

Is washi tape suitable for packaging?

It can work as a decorative accent or light closure, depending on the surface and application. It should not be assumed to replace structural packaging tape. Adhesion and surface compatibility should be evaluated for the intended use.

How long does production take?

Production is typically 2–3 weeks after artwork and payment are confirmed. A production sample of your own design takes about 7–10 days after artwork confirmation, and stock samples are also available on request. Shipping time is confirmed separately.

What should we include in our first enquiry?

Send the intended use, tape dimensions, roll length, quantity per design, artwork status, packaging direction, delivery destination and required date. PUNDY will review the project details and respond within two business days.
